You might be a little surprised to see Daniel Craig — the most recent James Bond — running around aMoonraker level shooting lasers and disabling alarms, but in the 007: Legends video game, chronology is not an obstacle.
This first-person shooter game is set to come out in October to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film franchise and just before the release of the Skyfall movie. A loose narrative will tie his exploits together, but the main point is to let gamers shoot their way through iconic Bond moments from six classic films. The team behind the game is staying tight-lipped about the other levels although diehards can probably guess the likely films used for inspiration (cough, Goldfinger, cough, From Russian With Love).
In this iteration, Bond has access to a variety of guns and gadgets and must use both to get through a series of high-action, espionage scenarios. 007: Legends is based on the same engine and created by the same team that built GoldenEye Reloaded. From what we saw, the graphics and game play come with a couple of nifty tweaks.

For one, the team has added some light RPG elements. Performing skillful actions and completing side objectives will net Bond experience points, which can be used to buy better guns and advanced gadgets. The points can also be used to enhance Bond by making him faster or more accurate, for example. The goal is to let the user choose how to play the game, as the game clearly rewards stealth and smarts.
We saw bits and pieces from the Moonraker level previewed in the game’s trailer. Bond sneaks through a space shuttle silo killing guards and using his phone to track power lines and disable security cameras. The level then opens up into an all-out shooting fest. For those who are interested, the laser gun makes a triumphant return with some much improved particle effects. There’s also no locking onto objects, and the player stays in first person throughout.
